Students create MySpace site for 52nd District Congressional Candidate Mike Lumpkin.

San Diego, CA- The two short months since Navy SEAL Commander (Ret.) Mike Lumpkin announced his candidacy for Congress have been filled with challenges that range from speaking events to almost losing his home in the recent fire storms. But there is one development that Lumpkin sees as particularly exciting: the overwhelming interest of San Diego County’s young voters. “I am both honored and impressed with the support and volunteerism shown by these young Americans,” said Lumpkin.

Last week a group of volunteers, whose ages range from 15 to 28, teamed up to create a MySpace page dedicated to Lumpkin’s candidacy. “They read my website, asked me questions and started creating a page they thought represented me. So far, I think they’re right on target,” said Lumpkin.

The popular online networking site is only the beginning for this energetic group. “I think Mike is a good person and we need people like him in Congress. I’m only 15 and I can’t vote, but I can use the internet to make sure young voters find out about him,” said volunteer Lexis Baker.

Miss Baker’s enthusiasm is appears to be catching on. Just days after the site was launched the campaign received encouraging phone calls and an online donation from a local community college student.
